These are prepared by sworn translators who are state-certified and authorized to translate official documents and certificates.

Where can I have a divorce decree translated?

Who translates and certifies a divorce decree?

Divorce decrees and certificates are translated exclusively by sworn translators, as only then are they recognized by official institutions. These translators are state-certified (in our case, in Germany) and have taken an oath before a regional court, higher regional court, or internal affairs authority. You can usually find these sworn translators at a professional translation agency—or simply contact us online.

How do I determine the page count?

A single page is one side of a sheet of paper (regardless of word count). Front and back count as two separate pages. For translation purposes, we count all relevant pages of your original document. The total page count is the sum of all individual pages. Learn more here.

Are my data and document information kept confidential?

Absolutely! We handle all your data and document information with the highest level of confidentiality. In fact, we're quite fanatic about that. Our service holds certifications for translation services (ISO 17100), quality management (ISO 9001), and an excellent information security management system (ISO/IEC 27001).

  • For this you need

A translation of a divorce certificate is usually only accepted by foreign courts and authorities in certified form. A simple translation is often insufficient in this case – this applies to most official documents, by the way. But when do you actually need a certified translation of your divorce decree? Basically, whenever you need to submit it to an office or court abroad. The reasons for this can vary: for example, in the case of remarriage, i.e., registering a new marriage, or when applying for a name change after a divorce.

We at Belaubigung24 translate and certify your divorce document: 1. If you need your German divorce decree in another language or 2. if you need the foreign language document in German to present it to a German court or office.

  • Certificate, judgment, or resolution? We translate your divorce documents

Some call it a divorce decree, others a divorce certificate, and some call it a divorce decree. All three terms mean the same thing. What matters is the content and validity of the documents, as well as the fact that they are official or court-issued documentation confirming that the former spouses are legally divorced. The wording doesn't matter to us – we translate your divorce papers, regardless of their title, with an officially recognized certification.

  • All or nothing – which sections need to be translated

With a multi-page divorce decree, you may be wondering what you need to have translated. Wouldn't a partial translation be sufficient for the document to be recognized here or abroad? Our answer: It can work, but it doesn't have to. There are indeed foreign institutions that accept an abbreviated translation, but unfortunately, a complete list of these countries or authorities doesn't exist. Therefore, we recommend obtaining this information from the recipient early on. At Belaubigung24, we only translate complete documents and, for divorce decrees, we charge per page – this way, you're always on the safe side.

  • On to the future – secured by our triple certification

After a divorce, a new phase of life begins. To ensure your start into this new future is as smooth as possible, we support you as best we can – at least when it comes to the paperwork. Our sworn translators will provide you with a recognized and certified translation of your divorce documents, ensuring the official procedures are completed as quickly and smoothly as possible. You can rely on us: Our service is triple ISO-certified – for our translation services (ISO 17100:2015), our quality management (ISO 9001:2015), and our information security (ISO/IEC 27001:2013).

  • When do I need to have a divorce certificate translated?

There are usually three reasons for translating a divorce certificate:

    - You want to remarry and must provide a translation of your foreign divorce certificate.
    - You want to have your divorce in Germany recognized abroad.
    - You want to have your divorce abroad recognized in Germany.

  • I don't have a divorce certificate yet – can I also have the divorce decree or divorce decree translated?

You will usually receive the divorce certificate approximately four weeks after the court ruling. If you need a translation of proof of divorce before then, you can also have the divorce decree or divorce decree translated through us. Simply upload the relevant document at the top of this page and order your certified translation with just a few clicks.
