Frequently asked questions about document translations

Why do I need a certified translation for my certificate?

A certificate – regardless of its type – is an official document that requires a certified translation to be recognized by foreign authorities. The certified translation is created by a sworn translator and verified with a signature and stamp. This gives the translated document official validity even in a new language and is generally accepted internationally by offices, authorities, and courts.

Where can I have a document translated?

You can get a professional, certified translation of documents from a specialized translation agency. Sworn translators translate documents and certificates. These translators are specially trained, have taken an oath before a regional court, higher regional court, or internal affairs authority, and are officially authorized to translate documents, papers, and certificates, verifying the translation with a certification.

How much does a certified translation of a document cost?

You can get a certified translation of your document from Belaubigung24 starting at €53.90. The price for a certified or official translation of a document depends primarily on the chosen language combination. The number of pages does not affect the cost, and the translation by our authorized translators is already included in all prices.

Into which languages can I have my certificate translated?

Bei Sworn Translators kannst du beglaubigte Übersetzungen in 19 Sprachkombinationen bestellen. Eine der beiden Sprachen, also die Ausgangs- oder Zielsprache, sollte Deutsch sein.

Who translates and certifies my certificate?

To ensure that your document is recognized by the relevant authorities abroad, only sworn translators will translate it. These translators (in our case in Germany) are sworn translators who have taken a general oath before a regional court, higher regional court, or internal affairs authority. They are certified and authorized to translate and certify content into specific languages.

How do I determine the page count?

A single page is one side of a sheet of paper (regardless of word count). Front and back count as two separate pages. For translation purposes, we count all relevant pages of your original document. The total page count is the sum of all individual pages. Learn more here.

Are my data and document information kept confidential?

Absolutely! We handle all your data and document information with the highest level of confidentiality. In fact, we're quite fanatic about that. Our service holds certifications for translation services (ISO 17100), quality management (ISO 9001), and an excellent information security management system (ISO/IEC 27001).

  • There are several situations in which a certificate in the original language is not sufficient. This is often the case with courts and authorities abroad. In these cases, everything usually has to be done officially – even with translations. Both foreign and German authorities generally only recognize certificates and other documents from another country if they are translated and certified. This can be the case if you want to get married abroad or if you are moving from or to another country and need to present your personal documents. Whatever the case, we recommend that you find out well in advance of your official visits which documents need to be (certified) translated and which rules apply in the respective country.

By the way, we have only one rule when it comes to translation: Either the source or target language of the translation must be German. We translate your foreign certificate into German and your German certificate into English, Spanish, and many other languages.

  • From happy to sad – translations for all types of documents

When most people think of a certificate, they immediately think of an award. You've successfully participated in a competition, you've mastered your studies, or you've completed professional training, and you've received a certificate for it. Often, however, certificates are simply official documents that document a fact. There are happy occasions like a birth or a wedding, and there are less happy occasions like a divorce or a death. Abroad, the corresponding documents are often only recognized by the relevant authorities with a certified translation. And that's what we're here for: We translate and certify your birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce certificates, death certificates, and all other types of certificates!

  • Your document translation is secure – thanks to our awards

A document usually only needs to be translated for official (i.e., important) matters. Therefore, the excellent quality of our translations is particularly important to us, and we ensure this in several ways. Firstly, we only work with state-certified and sworn translators. Secondly, we are triple ISO-certified – for our translation services (ISO 17100:2015), our quality management (ISO 9001:2015), and our information security (ISO/IEC 27001:2013).

  • Which documents can I have translated?

No matter the occasion, at Belaubigung24 you can translate all types of documents. The most popular ones are:

    - Birth certificates
    - Marriage certificates
    - Divorce certificates

  • When do I need a certified translation of a document?

You may need to have a document certified in various situations. Most often, it's foreign offices and authorities that require a certified translation of documents. Perhaps you want to move abroad, get married, and/or work there. Depending on the circumstances, different documents may need to be translated, such as a birth certificate or a marriage certificate. If this is not your first marriage, a certified translation of your divorce decree is often also necessary.
